The Barska 20-100x70 Gladiator Zoom binoculars boast a wide magnification range, allowing the viewer to target an object at a distance and then zoom in for a more detailed view. This makes them perfect for both long-distance terrestrial and celestial viewing. These streamlined black binoculars feature 70mm objective lens diameter, magnification power of 20x to 100x, porro prism of BAK-4 glass, 3.5mm exit pupil, multi-coated optics, center focus, and 16.5mm eye relief. Comments about Barska 20-100x70mm Gladiator Zoom Binoculars with Tripod Adapter:

I bought these hoping they would work well in viewing wildlife in Yellowstone/Grand Tetons. (I don't care for spotting scopes.) The clarity is wonderful! I won't use them until the fall but I am really pleased with the focus just looking out into a field. You definitely will need a tripod as they are heavy, but not overly so. I really think these will be the best way to view wildlife and the price is fabulous!

Comments about Barska 20-100x70mm Gladiator Zoom Binoculars with Tripod Adapter:

These binocs arrived badly misaligned. After finding the alignment screws I found I could get the images close enough that my eyes could resolve the images for terrestrial viewing but they would never work for astronomical use. At the end of the adjustment range the images were still about 20% of FOV apart. The inter-pupalary adjustment is also screwy. Other binocs I've used I always set the distance to about 60mm. These according to the gauge I have adjusted to 55mm but they are actually still about 65mm and I need more range of adjustment than they provide.

When zoomed to 100x the exit pupal is tiny. Maybe 1/3 of what it is at 20x. So really the useful range is more like 20-50.

Comments about Barska 20-100x70mm Gladiator Zoom Binoculars with Tripod Adapter:

These are fantastic binoculars at lower zoom levels. When you zoom in to max lavels however the view shrinks greatly. Definitely need a tripod (or way to steady the binoculars) if you want to xoom in on objects. Would not recommend these for anyone just looking for general use binoculars.

Great when you need to dial in on something far away quickly. But when you zoom get out the tripod, cause the view narrows substantially.

Living in Alaska, I love to get out into the open and gaze the mountains and landscape as well as the heavens. For the price I paid for the Barska 20-100x70 Gladiator Zoom Binoculars I was pleasently suprised. For the low price & high power, I would purchase them again! Due to it's size, I find that using a tripod is the best way to use this item.

              Customer Q & A

Q1: What type of tripod (not table) would you recommend for the Barska 20-100x70 model? Preferably an inexpensive one.

A: Barska 20-100x70 Gladiator Zoom binoculars are fairly heavy, and the weight is not in balance, as their tropod mount is located on the rear hinge. Still, you should be able to get by the Optavian Field Tripod. Here's the URL; just paste it into your browser's address window: http://binoculars.com/products/optavian-field-tripod-26036.html.

Q2: can i see details in planets with this binoculars

A: You should be able to discern some detail on Venus, Mars and Jupiter and see Saturn as a small, diamond-shaped object. You'll also get nice views of the Moon.
