These are a great pair of binoculars but not without a few drawbacks. The 25x magnification is awesome for slewing the sky and acclimating yourself to the distant universe above. The FOV is unmatched by anything else in the price range and you can even spot some DSO's with these behemoths. On the negative side, the heavy duty tripod is definetly "maxed out" with the weight of the binos and the result is an unsteady view with alot of jitters. Also, no matter how much I try to adjust the focus, I get kidney beaning on my views of planets. Those would be the only negatives on what otherwise is a great set of binoculars that I will use for years to come. I can see Jupiter and its 4 biggest moons pretty clearly and the Orion Nebula is easy to view. It only took a few weeks with these binos to have given me a thirst for nice dobsonian telescope to accompany the binos. I was thinking of returning them to get a credit to apply to the purchase of a Z8 dob but I can't give them up because they are just too convenient an item for quick views. I am new to astronomy and they have made it so easy to learn the skies above with the help of some skymap software. All in all, these are money well spent.

I'm a first tiime buyer, and would reccomend the Binocular's, but I would stay away from the Tripod that was sold with this package. The legs are very weak for this Binocular set. The mounting bracket has a very cheap metal ring on the mounting screw. I bent it with my hands, as I applied enough presure to stop it from swinging. The adjustment knobs are very tight also, and need strong hands to use them. Maybe the Tripod is good enough for a Camera???

Comments about Zhumell Tachyon 25x100mm Astronomy Binoculars with Tripod Package:

Service/Delivery rated by me as a total failure. Promises make, on two occasions, were not met. The first, David promissed delivery before Christmas, but the shipping notice stated differently. I then called, and talked to a service representative who assured me the problem would be resolved, and that I could expect delivery before Christmas. This is New Years Day and still no delivery. I was misled on 2 specific occations.

Comments about Zhumell Tachyon 25x100mm Astronomy Binoculars with Tripod Package:

Gift from wife. To heavy for the tripod, always moving. The binoculars are great for viewing astrology and wildlife viewing. Takes two people to put on tripod. This day and age, it seems that technology would be able to help the weight problem. I do like my binoculars though, tried two nights but have to wait till Christmas now to get it back.

bino's ok tripod was not the pictured item payed for pictured up grade. telephone conversation with service desk not interested in helping only to tell me "what you ordered is what you get" said they would suggest correcting add picture that showed a different product but that's all the help they offered. this was the second time i purchased same item once for a gift last for myself. never again hayneedle i cant do business with you and nor should anyone else. unless the shopper only wants what is offered and cares less what they bought. boycott hayneedle in support of consumer rights. in order to post this an agreement has to be checked allowing hayneedle to edit customers comments further reason to stop shopping hayneedles deceptions.

            Customer Q & A

Q1: Which long distance binoculars would you recommend for freighter watching on the great lakes?

A: The Zhumell Tachyon 25x100 Astronomy Binoculars would work very well for looking at freighters. A very large aperture binocular with stronger magnification on a very sturdy tripod will give you a clean bright image.

Q2: What is the interpupillary distance for these binoculars?

A: The interpupillary distance of the Zhumell Tachyon 25x100 Astronomy Binoculars is 76mm
