Do you need eyepieces and filters for your telescope but don’t want to spend a fortune? The Meade Series 4000 Eyepiece and Filter Set includes six (6) 1.25 inch eyepieces, a 2X Barlow lens that doubles the magnification of any 1.25 inch eyepiece you use with it, four (4) color filters for planetary viewing, and a moon filter—all for under $200! What’s more, all twelve accessories come in a hard carry case with a custom die-cut foam interior. With the Meade Series 4000 Eyepiece and Filter Kit and your telescope, you’ll have everything you need to view the Moon, the planets, and a myriad of deep-sky objects.
Includes 6 Meade Super Plossl 1.25 inch eyepieces
The Meade Series 4000 Eyepiece and Filter Kit includes six 1.25 inch Super Plossl eyepieces in the following focal lengths: 6.4mm, 9.7mm, 12.4mm, 15mm, 32mm, and 40mm.
Each Meade Series 4000 eyepiece has an apparent field of view of 52 degrees with the exception of the 40mm with its 44 degree apparent field. All of these Super Plossl eyepieces have fully multi-coated optics for bright, clear images, and a soft rubber eyecup for viewing comfort. The 1.25 inch barrel is threaded to accept filters.
Every amateur astronomer needs a 2X Barlow!
This eyepiece set from Meade includes a 2X “shorty” Barlow lens to double the magnification of any 1.25 inch eyepiece. Simply insert the Meade 2X Barlow into your telescope’s 1.25 inch focuser or diagonal, and then insert your choice of eyepiece into the Barlow lens. If the eyepiece you are using normally reveals images at 100X magnification in your telescope, it will reveal images at 200X when used in conjunction with the Barlow. This means that instead of six choices of magnification with the included eyepieces, you will have twelve—six power choices with the eyepiece alone, and six more with the eyepiece/Barlow combination.
Bring out details on the planets with color filters
Color filters are commonly used in visual astronomy to help observers see details on the planets that would otherwise be hard to ascertain. Meade has packed a basic set of color planetary filters in this accessory kit, including a #12 Yellow, a #23 Light Red, a #58 Green, and a #80 Blue. To use these filters, simply thread them onto the chrome barrel of any 1.25” eyepiece.
The Moon is so bright I gotta wear shades
When you are out in the sunlight, sunglasses help to cut the glare and make your eyes more comfortable. When it comes to the Moon, a filter is required to help you see more detail and to view in comfort by cutting some of the moonlight that reaches your eyes. Think of a Moon Filter as sunglasses for the Moon—or, if you like—moonglasses. Meade has included a Series 4000 Neutral Density (ND) Filter in this kit. It screws onto a 1.25” eyepiece barrel, just like the planetary filters do. This filter will work great on Venus as well, and even Jupiter when he is close and bright, and since an ND Filter does not change the color of the object you are viewing, it is useful when doing terrestrial observing on a bright, sunny day as well.
