    As I mentioned in my first review, I bought this spotting scope to use primarily on the rifle range. The normal 25/50/75 zoom is fine for distances out to 100 yards, but I found I needed more magnification at the long distance ranges, out to 600 yards. After consulting with the Celestron company, I bought the Celestron 2X Barlow Lens 1-1/4 Omni to double the power. HOWEVER, it did not come with any instructions, and was a bit tricky to figure out how to fit it to my C70. For those who also have this problem, here's the way it works: 1st, unscrew the 25/50/75 lens from the scope. 2nd, screw on the adapter that came WITH THE SCOPE. 3rd, push the Barlow lens in as far as it will go, with the lens into the scope, and tighten the screw on the scope adapter to hold the Barlow in place. 4th push the zoom lens into the top of the Barlow mount as far as it will go...it will not screw in...and tighten the screw on the Barlow.

    It's not quite point and look but it works well. I had a good view of the super moon. The focus works but there is a lot of knob turning. At least it makes you feel like there is an adjustment that will work for all things. The desk tripod works so-so for earthly spotting so you will have to get a full size one for moon and stars. I like the screw on eyepiece protector.

    Service and delivery comments:

    Fed Ex delivered it across the street even though I have a sign on my lawn with my 5" numbers on it. He did put the box in a plastic bag to protect it from the rain. It was unclear whether or not a signature was required even though it was not. UPS can find our house, Fed Ex could try harder.

        I tried the other name brands of spotting scopes that you think of first. They were no comparison to the Celestron. I didn't realize that Celestron actually made these type of scopes. When I found out they did, I did not hesitate to order one. I know about their quality of optics from way back. I must say, this scope is everything you would expect from a company like Celestron. You can't go wrong with it in my book.
