Highest Levels of Contrast, Color Fidelity, and Sharpness
The Regal Fluoro ED APO Spotting Scopes are the finest ever offered by Celestron! The APO optical design combined with fully multi-coated glass elements ensure the highest levels of contrast, color fidelity, and sharpness.
Celestron’s Regal F-ED spotting scopes feature an air-spaced doublet, one element of which is made from the exotic mineral fluorite. The extra low dispersion from the fluorite provides excellent color correction and razor sharp images while virtually eliminating chromatic aberration. Day or night, Regal F-ED spotting scopes are optimized to provide the sharpest images available. You’ll love them for bird watching, nature observing, long distance viewing and casual astronomical observing. Because they are completely waterproof you can feel comfortable using them in extreme weather. The matte gray finish allows for subtle observation in any natural environment. Regal F-ED spotters are a great companion for any outdoor enthusiast.

Comments about Celestron Regal 80 F-ED Spotting Scope:
I researched heavily and found the best price on the optics that I needed at Hayneedle. I ordered the item, and I have to say that after I ordered I saw some negative reviews on the internet. I wondered how my transaction would go as it was my first order with Hayneedle. The item arrived the day that they said it would, it was exactly what I ordered, and it was 25% cheaper than on the other internet sites. A very smooth transaction and I could not be more pleased. Thanks Hayneedle!

Comments about Celestron Regal 80 F-ED Spotting Scope:
Although heavy - the lense quality is fine for my casual use - some chromatic edge aberration but not huge unless star gazing - Moon and close objects (i.e. in daylight) less than quarter mile exceptional.
Still having issues trying to find the correct adapters for the 35 MM DSL camera the "T-Adapter" claims to fit. Instructions only give vague notion how to adapt to standard Canon 35mm camera. Will need to seek out camera expert and likely an additional adapter stage or more to make work.
I like the angle eyepiece so you don't have to be bent over too low but as all angle eyepieces, it takes longer to acquire the object.
Fine tuning is very useful. Suggest you have a sturdy tripod and patience as ANY jiggling takes time for the image to settle down.
Zoom is a little course but does not distort very much. I had to lube the lense screw-on cover as from factory was gritty feel - poor tolerances.
Hay-needle "fulfillment" staff very helpful.
Overall for price - pleased enough to recommend to causal user - not professional, nor avid astronomy buff. Get reflective type with low F-stop and obtain sturdy tripod.
Last example - juptier - I could see moons, some aberration, and object at full zoom was only about between 1/8 -3/16ths size - not awesome but nice to see. The moon, on the other hand almost filled the lense.
