With the expansive field-of-view of a binocular, the 20X's fixed-power simplicity provides optimum optical design in a compact package at an affordable price. Not only is this spotter, with it's single moving part, waterproof and fogproof, but you also get a larger field of view, lighter weight and a more compact, more durable construction.

When there's plenty of light, mirage severely limits the use of more than 20X magnification anyway and in low light, about 20X is all that's useful unless you have an 80mm or larger objective lens.
