Q1: Can I use this with my meade ETX70 telescope? Can I get anything any higher?
A: I would not suggest this item with the ETX 70. Its just too much magnification for the size of the telescope. I would suggest sticking with the 2x barlow lens for the ETX 70.
Q2: I recently received as a present this item ; I have a ETX70 - I notice your last reply above ; I guess I can still use them. Please advise. Regards
A: You can definitely still use it, just when you do, do not use it with to small of a millimeter eyepiece as it will give you too much magnification to really be useful. The barlow will triple the magnification of the eyepiece or another way to say it is it will divide the millimeter of the eyepiece in half so a 30mm eyepiece with a 3x barlow becomes a 10mm eyepiece
Q3: My son needs a lense for a Telestar telescope by meade. The model number is 60AZ D=60mm F=700mm. I know nothing about telescopes. Can you please help me find what I need?
A: What you will need is any eyepiece in a .965 format. Meade does not offer them additionaly only the ones you get with the scope. If you look on our site the brand Zhumell has the most .965 format eyepieces available. They run around $40
Q4: In a previos question, you suggest the 3x barlow isn't really good to use with an ETX 70, yet the first line of this product is "It may not look all that impressive, but the Meade #128, 3X Barlow lens (1.25-inch) can make a big difference in the performance of Meade's popular ETX-70 AT telescope" why advertise to use it with an ETX-70 if ift;s not really great for it? How would an ETX-80 fair with a 3X barlow?
A: Sorry, Corey. The earlier answer was in error. It WILL work on the ETX-70, and it should work just fine on the ETX-80. You'll want to make sure not to "push" the scope too far, however, by piling on too much magnification. It can only handle about 190X.
Q5: will the #128 3x barlow lens go with the 114 eq-a meade telescope
A: The #128, 3X Barlow is built with a short focal length specifically to be used with the ETX-70. It'll also work with the ETX-80, but not with the 114EQ-A. For your scope, you'll want the 2-3X Variable Barlow.
