Frequently Asked Questions

1 - 2 of 2

Q1: I have a Meade 114EQ telescope and want to enhance my viewing with a Barlow Lens - 2x is adequate. My future plans are to do some photography. For a reflector, is the achromatic the correct choice in a lens or is there another type more specific to a reflector?

A: The achromatic will work wonderfully with a reflector.

Q2: What is the diff. between an apochromatic, achromatic and regular barlow lens?

A: An achromatic lens usually consists of two elements. The different wavelengths of light do not meet at the same focus point, causing chromatic aberration. An apochromatic lens uses 3 or more elements. The different wavelengths meet at the same point of focus, effectively eliminating chromatic aberration. A normal Barlow lens is in essence an achromatic lens
