Description

Line it up!
See all your telescope is capable of delivering with the Celestron collimation tool.
The optical performance of most Newtonian telescopes can be optimized by collimating, or realigning, the telescope's optics, as needed. This procedure is easily accomplished with Celestron's collimation tool, a handy accessory that comes with detailed instructions. It makes short work out of what was once a laborious chore.

The Celestron Cheshire Collimation Eyepiece is ideal for precise collimation of Newtonians and helpful for aligning Schmidt-Cassegrains. This special eyepiece fits into 1¼" focusers or diagonals.

Alignment is easy using the small opening on one end and thin cross hairs at the other end. The collimation eyepiece is more accurate than the simple Collimation Tool.

This is a tool no one should be without. As a secondary collimation tool used to test accuracy of laser collimators and as a primary for those who are not concerned with the fine tuned focus a laser provides. It covers all three aspects of collimation. The one report of it not being useful for secondary collimation is not accurate. It just takes some patients and a little practice.

The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is I would like it to be a little tighter fit in the EP barrel. I find that it wobbles a little. To get the most accurate result I let the sight tube go all the way in so that it is flush with the focuser. Then use the focus to extend the tool the proper distance from the secondary.

I used it to collimate my Zhumell Z10, this simple collimator is not as easy as a good laser, but it worked eventually, just took much longer time. On the other hand, I don't need to worry about the danger assoicated with a laster collimator, that is certainly an advantage.

Comments about Celestron Specialty Collimation Telescope Eyepiece Tool:

This collimator is only a hair better than a mere simple needle hole thru an eyepiece cap placed over the focuser.

It is way overpriced, yet the crosshairs do show how the focuser is centered on the secondary mirror, and how the primary mirror is contained within the secondary mirror and centered.
A Laser makes you feel better about it, yet this does the job just as perfectly.
It costs too much, and should have been included in the pak with the telescope and Red Dot Finder.

Difficult to use at first, but once you get the hang of it it's a snap. This product looks very similar to a laser collimation tool. This product is strictly a visual tool which works just fine.

Comments about Celestron Specialty Collimation Telescope Eyepiece Tool:

Well made basic collimation tool for most newtonian telescopes however, will not work with barlow (Bird-Johnson) type focusers used in cheaper newtonians with spherical primary mirrors.
