Description

Use the Meade Laser Collimator to quickly and accurately align your telescope optics.

Meade's Laser Collimator simplifies the collimation process.  Collimation is a method to align your telescope's optics.  Telescope optics are normally aligned at the factory, but over time your optics can become misaligned.  Misaligned collimation can mean dimmer and blurrier images in your telescope eyepice.  Meade's Laser Collimator provides a quick, simple and accurate method of collimation.

For use with Meade LightBridge Truss Tube Dobsonian Telescopes, other brand dobsonian telescopes, or any Newtonian reflecting telescope.

The Meade laser collimeter is well made and works as advertised. I have noticed that when I rotate it in the focuser, the laser dot moves around a bit. I attribute this to the tolerances used to manufacture either the eyepeice tube or the collimeter, or both. But this doesn't seem to be a major hindrance to collimating.

For the price, Meade could throw in a page or two of instructions for use/maintenance of the tool, as well as some detailed procedures for collimating a telescope.

Overall, very glad I got this - it makes collimating quick & easy.

Meade is a great company, but have no illusions this thing is outsourced and meade mearly slaps their name on it. I have a Zhumell, but it is identical to this one in every way. When mine arrived from the factory the laser inside of it wasn't aligned properly and therfore did not function properly. The collimator needed collimating itself. There are small hex screws on the side which will allow you to manually collimate the laser inside of the collimator body. I bought mine 2 years ago and I havn't fooled w/it since. Sorry Meade, great company and all but im callin u on this one. So, I say dont waste your money and rely on your eye and a good defocused star to provide accurate collimation. Works bettr 4 me.

Comments about Meade Laser Collimator for LightBridges:

This is a great product for the price. It only took me short while to fine tune my 5" reflector and dramatically improve the sharpness of objects viewed through the eyepiece. The only downside is that Meade doesn't provide any documentation with the collimator, so it pays to search out articles on collimation prior to using this tool.

Comments about Meade Laser Collimator for LightBridges:

This collimator replaced one that came with my telescope that did not work. This one worked well but needs collimating. This is common for a laser from GSO. After adjusting the beam, you can collimate your Newtonian and enjoy the views.

Comments about Meade Laser Collimator for LightBridges:

The Meade laser collimator has that solid, well built feel that inspires confidence in its use and your purchase. I found it easy to use, even when I am some distance from it while adjusting the primary mirror of my 10" f5 reflector scope. The only negative so far is that the on/off screw must be backed off a fair amount or it may be moved by handling and placement in a storage box, turning the laser on and depleting the button cell batteries.
