The aperture is equivalent to about a 7mm EP, so many revolutions of the fcous knob will be required. Need to focus on the moon first and then go to planet like Jupiter. Tracking alignment must be good, otherwise a target like Jupiter will not stay on the screen. You need to get all the toolbars placed on the menu in order to take a video clip.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

ordered here quite a few times had nothing but great things to say. on this particular item I haven't had a chance to use yet due to the weather and I cant wait. for the price I cant complain anyways.

I bought this camera thinking it would be the last thing
I needed for my nexstar8i, Not so I hope I can get it to
work. I hope I am all worng and this camera will work fine.
This camera does not seem to capture images of the moon and
other planets. All images are fuzzy.

Interesting device, arrived on-time, in perfect condition. Set up of software was simple, instructions are straight-forward. Use is not so straight forward. I have a Celestron Nexstar 8SE. Getting the planet you want in the field of view of the camera is extremely difficult and time consuming. Having said that, I had read this was the case. I managed a few good, not excellent, pictures of Jupiter on the first night. Overall, I think it has a steep learning curve but once this is mastered I think it has great potential.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
