Description

This filter is perfect for lunar viewing.  Dial in just the right filtration for the perfect, comfortable view.  Like a dimmer switch for your eyepiece, this filter makes viewing the bright moon much more comfortable and really brings out more detail and greatly improves contrast.

 

This filter consists of two glass filters that rotate allowing you to adjust the amount of light transmission allowed through the filter.

    Purchased this with the 8-24mm Zhumell eyepiece, and I like them both. The polarizing filter is variable between almost none to almost fully opaque, not sure about the 34-45% rating. Chose it for viewing the moon, and it works just fine.

    It is a bit large, and bottoms out on my Celestron NexStar 4SE, both with the original 25mm and the zoom eyepieces, but I can still focus well enough. Clear optics, but (obviously) you do need to remove the eyepiece to twist the filter to adjust the light transmission.

          Works great, i use it with a 20mm and 24mm to get the full Jupiter and moons view without being blinded. As other mentioned, it seems more like 3.5%-40% transmission, it can block a lot of light. Be aware that it's essentially two filters stacked, so when attached to an eyepiece, it goes down into the eyepiece socket farther. On my Meade 2080 SCT, the filter touches the glass inside the diagonal. I have to insert the eyepiece only partway, or risk damaging things. Works better with my Orion 2x barlow, as nothing touches.

          Also note that mine shipped with the two pieces only lightly screwed together. After a couple of adjustment turns, they started to separate. Easily corrected, but it may be hard to feel that it's happening in the dark.

            I purchased this filter to reduce the brightness of the moon and planets while trying out my hand in astrophotography. It fits perfectly with any eyepiece and does a great job reducing brightness while really enhancing image quality. This was worth every dollar spent.
