This particular filter allows light transmission in the doubly ionized oxygen wavelengths. This is particularly good for viewing double star systems where a lot of emissions are in the doubly ionized oxygen range.
Oxygen III (O-III) are great for viewing diffuse and planetary nebulae. The views of the Veil, Ring, Dumbbell, Crescent and Orion nebulae are dramatically improved.

Comments about Zhumell 2 inch High Performance O-lll Telescope Filter:
It did bring out some planetary nebula but not any better than my broadband lp filter. In my Lumicon OIII (in 1.25") objects tend to have a deep deep hue but in Zhumell it's a aqua color. It does bring out things in the narrowband spectum somewhat. I suspect it's letting more light in the spectum pass than a OIII filter should. While it's only a fraction of the cost of TeleVue or Lumicon I don't feel it's worth the savings.

Comments about Zhumell 2 inch High Performance O-lll Telescope Filter:
I have purchased from Hayneedle before, so I naturally expect the best. They always deliver as promised. These were my first Zhumell filters, I got the UHC and the O-111 and I really got my moneys worth. They are just as good as Orions equivelant, and no shipping chargs. I live under yellow skys and they really brought out the nebular contrast. I cant wait to get out to dark skys. The tech sheet was in chinese, and was not helpful at all. But the filters are still a great value.

Comments about Zhumell 2 inch High Performance O-lll Telescope Filter:
I use this filter with my meade 12" s-c to look at m-57--m-27--m-42---ngc6210 and numerous others, it helps a lot, I do not have another O-III to compare it to, but it shows nebula's that I cannot see without it.The only down side I can see is that it darkens the background stars, but they probally all do and this one cost a whole lot less than any other.

This 2.0" 0-111 met all my expectations and compares well to my much more expensive 1.25" 0-111! Very happy.
