Very often when viewing the moon, its light is so intense in the telescope you need a filter to bring down the amount of light entering your eye. Think of it like a pair of sunglasses for your telescope. You will see more detail on crators, more surface detail and a much more comfortable eye at the eyepiece.
Celestrons 1.25-inch moon filter is an economical eyepiece filter for reducing the brightness of the moon and improving contrast. This allows surface detail to be observed more readily. The clear aperture is 21mm for this 1.25-inch filter. Light transmission is about 18 percent.![]()

This is a great filter. I bought them as a pair for my giant binocs for viewing when the moon is full, or almost full. For the fun of it, I popped it onto a 3.5 lens and turned my scope to Venus and it was fantastic. Get dual usage out of this puppy.

Poor threads
Hard to thread into eyepiece because of poor thread quality. Other than that it's OK.

We haven't had a chance to use this filter yet but it fit perfectly on our Meade telescope. We're still waiting on a digital imager. Shipping was fast and the filter was packaged well.

But was told that it was out of stock and that the Celestron moon filter was the same price and available now. So he was nice enough to make an instant substitution and I got my filter much sooner.

Q1: Will this eyepiece fit my Celestron Omni 12mm 1-1/4" eyepiece?
A: Absolutely, these are designed to fit on any standard 1 1/4" eyepiece.
Q2: will these moon filters fit on my celestron skymaster 15 x 70 binoculars, and is the polarized style preferred for lunar viewing?
A: Unfortunately, the Celestron SkyMaster 15x70 binoculars do not take astronomical filters. The Zhumell 25x100 Tachyon is the only binocular currently on the market that takes astronomical filters. The polarized filter cuts glare from the full moon.
Q3: Will this filter fits onto a Celestron Powerseeker 60 EQ?
A: Yes, the Celestron Moon Filter 1-1/4 Inch will fit the Powerseeker 60 EQ.
