View the sun in safety with the Celestron Solar Filter for C5, N5 and 130GT and 130SLT telescopes.
New Celestron solar filters are made with Baader Astro Solar Safety Film. Astro Film is clear, homogenous, and attains the optical performance of high-quality plane-parallel glass filters. Teamed with double-sided, uniform-density, metal lens coatings, it produces brighter, sharper and more contrast-rich images than the competition.
As a result, the sun will appear in its "real," neutral white color - not blue or orange - and the sky adjacent to the solar limb will be jet black. You'll see detail in sunspots, bright faculae near the limb and the mottled areas known as granules with these filters.
Celestron's solar filter is completely safe and durable (won't break like glass if dropped). Its film rating is ND-5, which means that it transmits 1/100,000 of visible light (.001%) while reflecting (blocking) 99.999%of unwanted light, and it has been declared safe for direct solar viewing by the German National Bureau of Standards for eye safety.
The sun offers constant changes and will keep your observing interesting and fun. You'll see all it has to offer in safety with the Celestron solar filter for C5, N5, 130GT and 130 SLT telescopes!

        Had a bit of trouble locating the sun at first. be sure to use a wide angle lens (25MM). You know your close to finding the SUN when your scope shadow is very small.

              I bought the Celestron Solar Filter for my Celestron 130 SLT. The fit was perfect and the quality of the product is high. Having a solar filter doubles the usefulness of your telescope. I can now view the closest star to our planet, the sun and don't have to wait until night. The view of the sun was incredible!               I bought this because I was interested in viewing the Sun. Works great. My only complaint is that there's no case included with the product. Considering the fragile surface, it would be nice if some sort of case was included. I just kept the box and packing materials with a big note on it not to throw it away! :)

              Q1: Our highschool has an older celestron-8 2000mm-f/10 telescope. I am looking for the solar fliters for this scope. I was woundering where I can find these filters.

              A: You can find them on our site in the celestron section under filters or you can just put 94162 in the search box.

              Q2: I just bought a Celestron NexStar 130 SLT Telescope and was wondering what kind of solor filter I could get for it.

              A: The Celestron Solar Filter for C5s, N5s, 130GTs, 130SLTs will work nicely.

              Q3: Would this fit an Orion Apex 127mm Maksutov. And does it come with a case or something to protect it when not on the telescope.

              A: We're just not sure about the Celestron Filter. However, the AstroZap Baader Solar Filter for the Meade ETX-125 telescope will fit the Orion Apex 127mm just fine.
