The picture doesn't do any justice for this product! I had chosen the white color (has a black seat) based on another reviewer's suggestion to be able to see it better in the dark. Good choice! To adjust the height, you just lift up on the seat and move it to the desired position. According to the instruction manual, this chair is rated for 350 pounds which is 50 pounds higher than what I've read in the ad here.
I've spent many nights out with my Celestron 6SE with times being on my knees on frozen ground, or, with my back arched over to look through the eyepiece. My 1st night out with the StarBound chair proved to be the end for pains after a few hours of observing!
I also gave this chair a workout using every height level. I had set the seat to its lowest level to see how it would be to observe straight up at zenith.
The moon was setting and I adjusted the seat for its maximum height to look thru the eyepiece - every view setting was good!
This product makes star gazing comfortable. I also had a few reservations about buying this product at 1st, especially, the price for "just a chair". Reading other reviews had convinced me, and, yes, I have to agree the other reviewers were right! This is more than "just a chair" and worth the price. It gives me better back support than the lawn chair I was using in the past!

I am a pretty big guy, 270 lbs. 6 ft 1 in. I find this chair to be rather uncomfortable. The seat is much too small for a guy my size and the back rest (steel rods) do not cut it. It could be considered strong to handle a guy my size, however it certainly is not worth the price paid. Perhaps a third to a half of what is being charged but not this price. I went to a store, [...], and saw an adjustable bar stool which is much more comfortable and supports much better and costs a LOT less.Up to this point I have been pleased with the other products I have purchased from this web site but I could not honestly in good faith recommend this chair to my friends.Respectfully, D. It took 4 minutes to unbox and assemble. Easy.
I found top quality build and finish. The basic design securely holds my 210 lbs.
An observer chair is an essential if you're over 40 years old, and still a good idea if you're not, because it eliminates one major fatigue factor of a long viewing session. It also makes for comfortable binocular viewing with the seat low and the rails as a headrest.
The design is simple yet thoughtful; structural parts that work as hand-grabs, minimal moving parts and a simple adjustment mechanism without grease or ratchets. I would like to see it in a lighter (aluminum alloy) version, but only if it would be as strong and well made as this one. I would also like it to fold flat.
I wish I had known about this thing years ago. A very rewarding purchase.
BTW, I am VERY favorably impressed with the "telescopes.com" ordering, service and delivery systems.

I ordered the white one (easier to see at night) It came in just a few days. Perfect condition.
Assembly takes about 3 min. (4 bolts). It would be nice if the seat folded flat, but no big deal. Ideal chair.
