      Works out of the box, however I have a Mac so I had to use a virtual machine (XP) and install my prolific USB driver in it. I used the VM to control the telescope using the connection at the end of the hand control via the Nexstar program.

        This RS-232 and Collimater and power pak and eyepiece with barlow kit should have come with the NexStar 130 SLT Bundle.

        The part is necessary for a Laptop, yet is way overpriced

          I got this to upgrade firmware of 102 SLT and had no problem updating both band control and motor control firmwares. I also tried ASCOM control, and it works for that also. So, if you have SLT line of telescopes, this serial cable will work for you.

            Q1: Can you view images on your computer

            A: The cable will allow you to control a properly-aligned telescope from your computer. However, seeing with the telescope "sees" on your computer will require an imaging device like the Zhumell Digital Eyepiece.             Q2: Can this cable be used with my Meade DS-2130ATS with Autostar?
