I used these on an early vintage Orion 120EQ refractor by adding a dovetail base to the mount. I attached the plate adapters to the scope rings. They fit well and hold the scope quite securely. There is no stop on the thumbscrews and they have a short throw. You can easily extend them to the point that the spring "explodes" the pressure plate and screw off of the adapter. This isn't a problem in the house when I installed them but I could see this as catostrophic at night in a grass field.

I purchased two clamps to mount a guide scope to my C6-RGT. I can not understand why the manufacture designed this product to fly apart when you open it. The first time I opened it, half of the clamp went flying across the room because it is spring loaded. It took me 10 min. to find all of the missing parts. They should have designed this better. I am giving this product 3 stars because it is well constructed and serves the purpose. Just be careful when you open it.

This is a very well constructed vixen/celestron type dovetail plate that has a taper on both grabbing surfaces instead of flat on one side like that found on my Celestron cg-5 mount. Excellent pricepoint for an unusually capable clamp! Unlike a similarly priced unit, there is no exposed setscrew to dig into your Vixen-type dovetail plate. This clamp closes very securely and can probably hold a twenty pound OTA with ease.
