Description

The iEQ45 is the first in a new breed of premium astro-imaging mounts from iOptron. Now it comes available with a modified DEC clutch for free spin OTA balance.

The iOptron iEQ45 offers the next generation GoTo technology from iOptron - not to mention built-in 32-bit GPS.  With a payload of 45 lbs balanced - it comes standard with a calibrated dark field illumination polar scope and a sturdy 2-inch stainless steel tripod.  It also fits both Vixen and Losmandy-type mounting plates.  It's lighter weight (only 25 lbs) makes it much easier to carry.

            The tripod and drive were well packaged and apper to be very well made. The reviews I have read have been favorable and I expect that it should suit my needs for astro imaging. I have only gotten the mount and have not used it yet. My first impressions regarging the packing, design, and instructions has been very favorable.

                A well designed and constructed GEM; much bang for buck. I've been using it for about 4 mos. now. I was a DOB user prior and worried that there would be a steep learning curve; however, this mount proved easy to use. Nonetheless, there is plenty of capacity left to learn about with this mount. I had a problem with the hand-controller, but the tech support was excellent. They replaced it within days and I was back up and observing. My only complaint is with the counterweight bar. I suspect the designers shortened it to be able to store it within the mount when not in use (clever feature). I have problems balancing the mount with my gear. I'll have to purchase a bar extension to resolve it.

                  Looked a mount for a long time to replace my CG5. Got this one by recommendation from a friend who owned the old version iEQ45. Polar alignment was very easy. Goto and tracking were excellent. Maybe I was lucky, but 12 arc sec PE was absolutely unexpected. I would not complain if this mount was only a push to for the price. Recommend it without any reservation.
