If you've purchased a motorized Goto scope from Celestron, this is an absolute necessity if you plan on observing from your deck/patio often.

However, if the majority of your planned observing will take place in a field (i.e. far from an outlet). I would bypass this and go straight for the Power Tank or car adapter. Also, if you plan on doing a lot of observing from a deck, I highly recommend the vibration suppression pads, because you'd be surprised how much even a well-built deck will vibrate as you or others walk across it.

All that being said, this product does what it says and comes in handy when observing near an outlet. You don't need to worry about draining batteries or a rechargeable power supply. The only con I would include is that this should have been a supplied accessory in the first place, rather than having to pay extra for it.

What can you say about an AC adapter? It converts AC to DC and very well, thankfully.

Comments about Celestron AC Adapter for Computerized Celestron Telescopes:

I bought this AC adapter for my Nexstar 8SE. It's well worth the price if you are close to an electrical outlet (like on your back porch.)

With the cost of 8 AA batteries needed to power the Nexstar averaging $6 or more, this will pay for itself in just a few uses.

Comments about Celestron AC Adapter for Computerized Celestron Telescopes:

This is the best telescope accessory you can have. If you could only get one accessory this one is a good one to have. Not needing batteries is amazing. It is the only accessory that makes you money in the long run. No more worrying about needing to turn the scope off when I walk away from it. I can just leave the scope on all night if I wanted to. The cord has a nice length to it. Sometimes power adapters have really short cords, but this one is decently long. You won't need an extension cord if you're within about 15 feet of an outlet. Only regret, I should have bought it sooner.

Q1: Will this work with a CPC 1100?

A: Yes, the Celestron AC adapter will work just fine with a CPC 1100.

Q2: Does this power supply work in NZ with 240V power supply?
