First the bad: the first time I had to recharge my power tank, the LED indicator never came on to indicate that the battery had reached a full state of charge. After over a week, I disconnected the charger, and the LED came on. During that time, I had a customer service inquirey into Celestron describing the issue. They finally got back to me and said that power tanks were "querky", and as long as the battery charged up, all was well.
Now the pros: It is convienient and has functioned as described in every other way. It has saved a fortune in AA batteries, and I have used is as a backup source of light for numerous projects around the home.
With the exception of the charging indicator glitch, I would recommend it.

Works well, appears to be well made and is quite flexible in its usable functions. Much better then using AA batteries to power a telescope. Has various voltage outlets to run other equipment. Well worth it!

Comments about Celestron Power Tank 12v Power Supply 7 Amp Hour for Computerized Celestron Telescopes:
The Celestron 12 Volt Power Tank is a great way to power any computerized telescope. Once charged, it last much longer than batteries (5 hours longer) and it saves you money because you don't have to keep buying batteries. The power tank can be used to power many other types of equipment and can be used to jump-start a car battery. Overall, this product is much more efficient than batteries and can be used to do much more than just power a telescope.

Q1: Does this recharge from power supply in the house and if so is the plug a 3 pin for UK use and how long does it last with the main light on with telescope plugged in?
A: The PowerTank for use in the UK may require a US to Euro adapter depending on your setup in your home. These adapters are very inexpensive. The PowerTank will power a telescope for 30+ hours. The light will dramatically reduce this, but you would not want the light on while observing. This unit is fantastic for using your telescope where a cord is not convenient. It also saves so much money on batteries!
Q2: Do I need a car (cigarette lighter) adapter to connect this to my Celestron Nexstar 4, or is the AC adapter listed for the telescope? Sorry, but the description is a bit confusing...
A: The Power Tank comes with everything you need to power the NexStar series telescopes. The Car Adapter is included with the power tank.
Q3: How many hours does the battery or the power tank last?
A: It will depend on the scope that is being used and the draw the telescope has. Most of the basic GOTO telescopes will operate for 30+ hours on the PowerTank.
Q4: Is the AC adapter rated for 220V ?
A: The AC adapter is 110 Volts.
Q5: I have misplaced the AC 15V charging adapter. Can I order a replacement adapter?
A: Replacement parts are available directly from Celestron. Here's the URL of their customer support page so you can make arrangements. Just paste the URL into your browser's address window: http://www.celestron.com/support/sup-req.php
