I use this on my celestron heavy duty wedge, it is a nice upgrade overall and makes EQ alignments much easier. I do not like the fact that celestron lacks any level of detail on the installation of the product, being an engineer I figured it out quickly, but I know many that would have ended up returning the product.

The addition is designed for portable installations where very routine adjustment might be necessary. For any permanent pier, simply save your money. You need to loosen the mount to make the adjustments, so, this is a marginal convenience for one time. Additionally, the declination adjustment is not very well made for larger scopes.

This was an adventure. The instructions were not very accurate which made it difficult to install (with the wedge). Once installed, the RA adjustment knob hit the tripod leg. I had to add a .25" nylon bushing so that it extended far enough to turn. This of course limited the range of adjustment. Celestron needs to add the bushing and an additional .25" to the threaded rod. Additionally, in order to make any RA adjustments, I had to loosen the bolts on the wedge base so that it would turn without the possibility of stripping the threaded rod.
