    this lens is big and bulky and but well made. great eye relief and superior constrution but the Eyepieces has a low focus threshold . the inner 50% IS OK CLEAR while the remaing 50% suffers from kidney beaning. I have tried this EP twice now and both times the sky has been clear and calm. visabilty on scale of 1 thru 5 the nights are 3+, Now I compared this Ep with my 40mm[...] 25mm [...], 20mm bargain basement celestron omni. and this piece has a better construction and wide FOV but the kidney beaning is KILLING ME> While all my other EP has to a small degree KB this one truly suffers in the 20mm. I have tried jupiter and never really focused correctly, clusters are good viewing. while the core is clear the perimeter KB. =(plantary nebula M42 looked great but again poor edges detract from the nebulas beauty. My opinion is that maybe it's not for me i intend to work with this piece and find it's niche but if find very challenging to overcome KB in an EP of this quality. I have the Celestron 8se! also have the 127eq refractor and on these scopes this EP just dont cut the grade.Now i would recommend to a friend to try! perhaps the'll have better luck.

        I use this 14mm meade series 5000 for stars and the moon.. Excellent made product,very clear no blackouts..I have a meade series 4000, but from now on it will be the 5000 series..

            I bought some Meade eyepieces for my two telescopes. Decided to add a little more money and buy series 5000 instead of 4000. It was worth doing. Now my Meade 70mm refractor works like [$] telescope and my Meade ETX-125 turned into professional grade observatory.

                  Q1: I am thinking of getting the Meade ETX 90PE what eyepiece do you think would be best for it in higher mag?

                  A: The ETX-90PE is a good little scope that will handle about 212X magnification, give or take a little, depending on seeing conditions. The Meade 6.4mm Super Plossl eyepiece will push the scope to near its max. It's a good eyepiece and not too expensive.

                  Q2: Are these eyepieces worth the extra cost over the series 4000 Super Possl?

                  A: A faster scope requires well corrected eyepieces, the 5000 series would a better choice in that aspect. They have a wider apparent field of view and longer eye relief.
