2 inch eyepieces can be expensive. But they really are noticeably better than 1.25 inch units. When I saw this on sale I thought it was quite a deal and would really round out my 2 inch collection. When I tried it out the first time conditions weren't great - but it was good enough to appreciate the expansive view and rich field this lovely eyepiece provided. If you want to try out 2 inch eyepieces this is a great starting point. My basic set now includes a 13mm, a 21mm and now the 30mm Meade 4000. To me, this is the perfect lineup for my Meade LX-90 8". The view through the Meade 30mm 4000 is bright and crisp with beautiful contrast and color. Outstanding product for the money.

I have a 1.25" Meade 15mm QX Super Wide Angle eyepiece, and it is one of my best, most used EP's. I was expecting the same from the QX 36mm, but was left a little disappointed. The field of view is very wide (1.7 degrees at 41.7X mag on my 12" dob), but the edge-of-field abberations caused me to prefer my 26mm 2-inch Zhumell EP. The center of field images are very crisp, and with some objects the edge-of-field abberrations are not noticeable (nebula, galaxies), but on clusters it is more than obvious to the point where it is disappointing. I use the QX 36mm for low-power object location, then switch to my 26mm 2-inch eyepiece for viewing. I wish that I could recommend the QX 36mm, especially in light of how excellent an eyepiece the QX 15mm is in comparison. Unfortunately, 2 out of 5.

Comments about Meade Series 4000 Super Wide QX Telescope Eyepieces:

I purchased the Meade Series 4000, 26mm 2" eyepiece and I am extremely happy with it. It works well with my 12" Dob, and gives spectacular wide field views of the sky. I found the optics to be very good in quality, even towards the edge of the field. I think that this eyepiece is a great choice for anyone who wants wide field views and is on a budget, but does not want to sacrifice optical quality. I highly recommend it.

Comments about Meade Series 4000 Super Wide QX Telescope Eyepieces:

Using my 8" reflector at 27x magnification, I found this to be a great choice for that next step in star hopping from the finder scope.

The images are crystal clear throughout most of the field of view, but do get distorted at the edge.

A great piece to add to the collection.

Comments about Meade Series 4000 Super Wide QX Telescope Eyepieces:

i bought a 20mm and 15mm eyepieces of this series. the housing is all metal and it has a rubber eye piece for non-glasses-ware.
the FOV is significantly larger than my 20mm PL. and the image is much brighter due to the FOV. I will replace my PL EP with these two SWA EP.

Comments about Meade Series 4000 Super Wide QX Telescope Eyepieces:

I recently bought the 15mm and 20mm QX EP.At my first outing with them I viewed the moon with the 15mm. I was very happy to see the whole moon framed nicely at 80x mag in my 6inch Dob. Then it was on to some Deep Sky Objects once the Moon Set.Both worked great on M13, The Whirlpool Galaxy, and the Ring Nebula. The only Downside was that the stars at the edge of the field were obviously distorted and stretched out, the center view was perfect. Bottom Line: For the Price of [$] each I can't complain. If you are on a budget, these are good wide angle EPs
