First off the first thing you will notice about this 6mm zhumell eyepiece if you are up grading from plossl is the shear size its is 3 times as tall as a 10mm. This is not a bad thing to me however bc it only reassures "me" that it's a well made eyepiece with awesome optics and it is. Now If your anything like me and want to see close up images of Jupiter, Saturn (and you have a similar telescope to mine F1650mm D130mm f/5) then you might want to think about getting am eyepiece that is a little bit stronger then the 6mm bc I wasn't able to get as close as I wanted to with the 6mm but I was still able to see very faintly the rings on Saturn and Jupiter's moons! And the picture was crystal clear just not close enough so ive already ordered the 3mm zhumell planetary eyepiece which should put me right where I want to be!

I have all of these eyepieces except the 3 mm , they are real nice oculars, and especially for the price. This review is for the 18mm. It is not parfocal with the others,it has a shorter eye relief, and it is not sharp to the edge like the others. I am VERY pleased with the rest of the series, but the 18mm is different.

Comments about Zhumell Z Series Planetary Telescope Eyepieces:

The eyepiece I ordered came within a few days, was packed well and works fine. Image a little blurry first use, but it could easily be that the 8" reflector needs collimation, and /or that the seeing wasn't perfect.

Comments about Zhumell Z Series Planetary Telescope Eyepieces:

These are well built eyepieces with a decent 55 degree AFOV and good eye relief. They are big, but not too heavy. I use the 5mm for 90x, and the 9mm for 50x in my f/4 reflector. No problems with blackouts using these. I tried the 3mm, but at 150x it was too much magnification most of the time.

        Great eyepieces, poorly packaged

Comments about Zhumell Z Series Planetary Telescope Eyepieces:

While I'm relatively new to astronomical observing, I have used quite a few eyepieces, including .965 and the poor quality eps usually supplied with a new telescope. Based on many reviews, some claiming the Zhumill Z series was identical to Orion's Edge-On Planetary Eyepieces at less than half the price, I thought that it was a no brainer to try the 6 and 9 mm eps.
I find the Z series to be well made. They look and feel like quality pieces. While they are heavy and somewhat bulky, the AFOV and good eye relief justify the large package. The image is sharp and crisp. For the money they are a real bargain.
Why only 3 stars? These eps were very poorly packaged for delivery. The eps were banging around inside the outside packing box and only one poorly inflated air pillow was inserted to prevent them from banging around during shipping.

            Customer Q & A

Q1: Will they accept standard screw in 1.25 inch filters?

A: Yes, the Zhumell Z Series Planetary Telescope Eyepieces will accept  1.25 inch filters.

Q2: On these Eyepieces, will the lower power ( 18MM ) work with Deep sky objects? Or are they just designed for planets and the moon?

A: To best view deep space objects with detail, you will likely need to use an eyepiece that is 12mm or less.

Q3: I bought a Celestron Astromaster 114 from you which I received this week. What is the maximum magnification I can use?

A: The max. magnification of the Celestron Astromaster 114 is 200x. With a 5mm eyepiece you'll get a magnification of exactly 200x.

Q4: Are these eyepieces fully multicoated, or just multicoated on critical surfaces?

A: The Zhumell Z Series Planetary Telescope Eyepieces are fully multi-coated.
