Telescope
The C9.25-SGT Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope is a member of Celestron's Advanced telescope series. Celestron Advanced scopes combine state-of-the-art technology, easy-to-use features, and ready-to-use components to produce instruments of unparalleled quality and utility. The C9.25-SGT comes mounted on the CG-5 GT computerized equatorial mount that allows access to features like automatic star alignment capability and GoTo slewing to more than 40,000 objects. Equipped with high-speed motors and a hand controller, the CG-5 GT allows you to slew your telescope remotely to desired objects quickly and accurately. No matter whether you're a beginner, an intermediate viewer, or an advanced amateur astronomer, this precision instrument will satisfy your needs both visually and photographically.
Celestron CG-5 EQ Mount
This new, German equatorial mount has precision worm gears on both axes for extremely smooth tracking motion. The new, heavy-duty tripod with larger and more substantial legs offer excellent damping characteristics for more stable views. In fact, the CG-5 is the most stable mount in its class. The CG-5 also has a convenient latitude scale for easier alignment and an optional polar finder scope for the ultimate in precision alignments.
StarBright XLT Coatings
Celestron's XLT coating process uses state-of-the-art, thin-film, vacuum-deposition technology. To ensure consistent optical coatings of the highest quality, the process is tightly monitored and controlled by highly trained technicians. Prior to coating, each optical element is thoroughly cleaned and inspected to ensure proper adhesion of the films during the coating process. Materials used in our reflective and anti-reflective coatings, including aluminum, hafnium oxide, titanium dioxide, silicon dioxide, and magnesium fluoride are the purest available, exceeding 99.99 percent. The result is image clarity so stunning, it must be seen to be believed.

Comments about Celestron Advanced Series C9.25-SGT Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope:
This telescope system was incredibly easy to set up and use. I had one initial glitch with the first goto setup, then started over and it was pretty much dead on from there. The images on the scope were great.
Service and delivery comments:

Comments about Celestron Advanced Series C9.25-SGT Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope:
Hand controller does not allow slow rate declination adjustment. List of alignment stars excludes several prominent stars in my location. Conclude that hand controller is faulty.
Comments about Celestron Advanced Series C9.25-SGT Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope:
This 9.25" scope outperforms my 12.5" Dob, with tracking and goto to boot. It is very loud, though, and sometimes the gears sound very strange. The instructions are not complete either. It took a bit of sleuth work to figure out how everything works because of the manual.
Comments about Celestron Advanced Series C9.25-SGT Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope:
The imaging capabilities of this scope make the XLT coating a "Must Have". The staff at Telescopes.com made this investment a pleasure. Fast, Friendly and effective. You just don't hear that, today.
Comments about Celestron Advanced Series C9.25-SGT Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope:
It looks like an excellent telescope, but I'm still figuring out how it goes together. There seems to be an extra part that fits into the dovetail slot at the mount, but this part doesn't seem to have anything to do with the optical tube. I don't know if I can slide the optical tube dovetail into the mount slot because the mount slot appears to be bigger. There is also a feature on the equatorial mount with the markings "RA" (right ascension) that appears to accept a cylidrical shaft, but there was nothing in the kit that fits into it. There is just a cap that covers it. I suspect its for a manual control, but I have the GT model. I looked up instructions on the web, but there is nothing definitive about the configuration. I'm continuing my search for documentation.

Q1: Is this scope "Fastar" compatabile?
A: It is, but unless you already have the fastar lens assembly you will not be able to get it as it has been discontinued by Celestron.
