This is my first telescope and was truly amazed the first night I was able to get outside and look at the stars. I was able to get some photos using the t-adapter and t-ring that was purchased separately. Last night I was finally able to view the moon and WOW it was fantastic once I focused in on the moon. I was also able to get some great photos after patiently waiting while dodging clouds. The only problem that I have had is with the batteries. After placing them in the compartment it would not power up. I thought "great, it's not going to work", but pressing around on the batteries I was able to make the right connection and get it to power up. I will buy the ac-adapter, as well as, some other accessories when it is nicer warmer weather.

this was my first telescope and i bought it because it had the skyalign and i figured i could use it to learn more and find things in the sky well ive taken it out 3 times now and not once have i got it to align correctly i did some reading on this and it said to use the two star align i have not yet done this since it has gotten cold. This is my second telescope i have recived since my first one had a battery problem and had to send it back. This telescope has amazing optics very clear and also has a very stable tripod but i think once ive played with this more i will get it down and it will make everything better

The telescope came in a timely matter. Although the star finder is broken and one of the tags that hold down the battery compartment were broke. It was easy to set-up. haven't had a chance to call customer service to see if they will replace the broken items.

Comments about Celestron NexStar 6 SE Telescope:

I have only had this telescope for a few days and am already very pleased with it. The first night I had a chance to observe I set it up outside, leveled the tripod, plugged in the AC Power Adapter and begun the alignment process.

I chose three bright stars that where far apart but where not in a strait line. I antered them and waited for the telescope to crunch some numbers. ALIGNMENT SUCCESFUL! So i begun entering objects. One of them was M42 (the orion nubula). It was an amazing sight. The structures of the nebula where easily visible with M43 below it (even though i am in a light polluted city). I then entered Jupiter and was blown away by the datail. The cloud belts of Jupiter where easily visible along with many other storms. The only down side is that when the telescope found the object it wasnt in the center of the 13mm eyepiece. That was probebly because i was not able to enter the information exactly or didnt choose the best stars.

The mount the telescope is on is very sturdy which is very important. The tracking accuracy is also great. It is a very light telescope and is easy to assemble and disassemble. The only down side is that the power of the 8 batteries doesnt last more than a few hours so i bought an AC Adapter from Celestron (and recommend you to do the same) with the telescope.

All in all this is a great telescope for a great price that you will enjoy for years to come.

Comments about Celestron NexStar 6 SE Telescope:

I have only been using this telescope for a week and have had 6 nights of great viewing. So far the issues I have experienced all stem from my lack of experience except for one: using just the AAs is not optimal. I will be purchasing the A/C adapter 12v power tank asap.

        Customer Q & A

Q1: Is the "Starbright XLT" an option or integrated?

A: StarBright XLT coatings are standard in the NexStar SE telescope series.

Q3: How is the aperture rating?

A: The aperture of the Celestron NexStar 6 SE telescope is found by measuring the diameter of the scope's primary mirrors: 6 inches.
