I had someone help me out in buying this so I was able to get 6 SE bundle instead of the 4 SE. From what I've read and seen, spending the extra $200 to get the 6 inch instead of the 4 was completely worth it. It would be harder to be convinced to spend another $400 to go to the 8 SE at the 6" seems to get the job done considering what you get after the rebate for the 6SE bundle.

Right out of the box and before I even played around with the computer alignment process I was able to get stunning views of Jupiter from each Eyepiece that comes with the kit. A Barlow is a must have for any scope kit, and the one with this pack performs nicely. Once I was able to take the time to read how everything works with the alignment I was able to get the Auto Two Star Alignment to perform flawlessly. I was able to tell the scope to go to Messier 42 (Orion nebula) and on the first try it came up perfectly centered! I live in an area with a a lot of light pollution but I was still able to get some clear views of the nebula quite well. I can't begin to imagine how well this will perform once I get it somewhere with darker skies, and thanks to the relatively light weight of the set-up travelling with it should not be too much of a burden.

Definitely get the 6SE instead of the 4SE and definitely get the bundle package. A an excellent deal for a great scope!

New at using sophisticated telescopes. Setup guide is ok for mechanical parts, poor for software. NexRemote only written for windows; had to buy external software for MAC (ridiculous). Managed to use skyalign...Read complete review

      This Bundle deal is hard to beat.

      Comes with power pack and lens/filter kit, which when priced separately would far exceed the bundle price.

      I am a novice at stargazing, but I researched telescopes extensively and chose this Celestron package over many others.

      My first telescope was a "hand me down" which is pathetic compared to this feature filled Celestron.

      Although it was a little more than I wanted to spend, it is of high quality components and should last a lifetime.

      Very easy to set up. The accessories with the bundle are very well constructed and offered a value that couldn't be passed up. However, like every other scope I've ever purchased, the time for which I can begin using it varies from 3 days to 2 weeks. I've never gotten a scope that didn't come with a forecast for cloudy skies. The scope is a bit on heavy side. So be prepared for that. Also as a cassegrain scope you can expect sharper than average images in the eyepiece.

        Star test on Betelguese showed as close to perfect collimation (alignment of the secondary mirror). First light night was a little cloudy, the only thing I was able to see well was Jupiter. Several bands and four moons were immediately apparent.

        The goto was accurate enough to place objects in the field of view of the 25mm eyepiece, even with a hasty alignment.

        Just realize this is a good startup set, not a comprehensive set. The eyepieces get the job done as far as providing a range of magnifications, but they're not wide angle or long eye relief.
