THE SMARTEST TELESCOPE IN THE UNIVERSE!
A truly revolutionary product with ground breaking technology, SkyProdigy is the product of a culmination of decades of telescope advancements. It combines electronic motors, an intelligent on-board computer, a digital camera and StarSense™ technology to create an automatic, instant alignment telescope that requires no input from the user. Simply turn it on, push a button and enjoy the view! It’s that easy.
The SkyProdigy’s automatic alignment process takes only a few minutes, and you will be ready to select from thousands of objects in its database to view. Not quite sure what to look at? Select the Sky Tour option; this feature offers a customized list of the best objects in the sky to view for your exact time and location anywhere in the world!
No knowledge of the night sky is required. One touch innovation turns anyone into an instant astronomer!
Celestron’s SkyProdigy telescopes use an integrated imaging camera and patented StarSense Technology to automatically align with the night sky and determine where the telescope is currently pointing. The camera automatically captures an image of the sky, which is processed internally to positively identify stars in the image. Once a positive match is found, SkyProdigy determines the coordinates of the center of the captured image. The process is automatically repeated two additional times so that the system has three known alignment points that can be used to make an accurate model of the night sky. With this information, the user can select any celestial object in the hand controller’s database, and SkyProdigy will automatically move itself to the correct position.
*The SkyProdigy’s internal camera does not have an external output allowing users to view or save captured images. The captured images are used internally solely for the purpose of self-aligning the SkyProdigy telescope.

Comments about Celestron SkyProdigy 6 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope:
I purchased this computerized scope for the enjoyment of seeing objects in the night sky and being able to identify them easily. One good aspect of this scope is its ability to align itself automatically with the press of a single button. It is important to read the manual for initial setup prior to using the auto align feature. I had noticed that the time and location settings were not set for my local area. This helps with the alignment accuracy tremendously. Another thing that I noticed about this scope is that its somewhat top heavy, but its pretty stable as long as the stand is level.

Comments about Celestron SkyProdigy 6 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope:
The optics are poor so that only small centered objects are in focus while larger objects and those off-center cannot be uniformly focused. This is less of a problem with celestial objects that are viewed at the center anyway but causes unacceptable viewing of larger terrain objects even when depth of field is not an issue. Also, the tripod is so flexible that the slightest breeze causes unacceptable movement.

It is a little top heavy. Fun to use very educational added eye lens that connects to my computer for easier viewing for grandkids and PawPaw.

Comments about Celestron SkyProdigy 6 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope:
I'll be using this telescope for backyard and star party viewing. I've been waiting for a clear enough sky to use it, and last night, although not great was OK. The scope aligned very quickly, maybe 1 1/2 minutes, and when I slewed it to Saturn it was close to the center of field. The finders scope was even already aligned. The scope was able to find clusters etc. that we couldn't see naked eye due to the poor seeing. The scope and tripod are light enough that I can keep it in the house set up and then move it out to the yard when the skies clear. I'm very pleased with the scope.
Service and delivery comments:
