Meade 6 Inch ETX-LS Telescope with LightSwitch Technology Features
The revolutionary LS astronomical telescope features the most advanced electronics and optics ever applied to a consumer telescope. Meade is producing the easiest-to-use, most entertaining, educational, high-performance telescope on the market by combining LightSwitch Technology, a choice of Advanced Coma Free Optics (ACF) or SC Schmidt-Cassegrain Optics, Astronomer Inside multimedia output and a completely new mechanical design into the Meade 6 Inch ETX-LS Telescope with LightSwitch Technology.
LightSwitch Technology
Alignment system for completely hands free alignment. Using the Integrated Sensor Module and the bult-in ECLIPS CCD imager on the telescope tube, our LightSwitch Technology allows the telescope to completely align itself with the sky without any input from the user. The user simply flips the LightSwitch on and the telescope finds its location, time, date, north, level then locates and centers the alignment stars for perfect alignment every time without user input.
Single arm fork Altitude-Azimuth (Alt-Az) mount
6" ACF or SC optical tube assembly (OTA)
Multimedia Output
AutoStar III hand controller
Easily control telescope for automatic location of objects, tours and many other features. Approximately 100,000 objects in database

Comments about Meade 6 Inch ETX-LS Telescope with LightSwitch Technology:
...while being a backyard astronomer this Meade 6 Inch LS Telescope with LightSwitch Technology gives me the feel of being in a observatory. If I was to come up with a con: for this telescope it would have to be that it is heavy. But the tripod set up is so easy, position the scope on top and a slight movement and it is in position to tighten.

Comments about Meade 6 Inch ETX-LS Telescope with LightSwitch Technology:
Great scope so far, updating firmware was a bit tricky. Autostar seems to be off a minor bit, but I am sure I just havent figured out how to fix that yet.

Comments about Meade 6 Inch ETX-LS Telescope with LightSwitch Technology:
Got the LS-6 ACF with attached monitor and Celestron power supply. After reading reviews on the net, I expected it NOT to work, but to my surprise it has done the auto alignments perfectly every time!
The AV guide is great and adds alot of fun to the viewing. Next I'm getting a DSI too. Very happy with this piece of equipment. Well done Meade!

Comments about Meade 6 Inch ETX-LS Telescope with LightSwitch Technology:
The GPS and CCD add so much to automatically align this scope, that even an amateur like me can easily find heavenly bodies right after assembly. It can take a while to lock onto enough GPS satellites - 10-15 minutes, then another 5-10 minutes to level, find north, and align on two stars. Once that is done the ride is MAGNIFICENT! It is kind of heavy, so not as portable as the ETX-125, and it doesn't use an equatorial mount, so I'm not sure how good it will be for photography, but for viewing and finding it is wonderful.
