Q1: What can i see with the etx-125at? What would you advise a beginner to buy?

A: The Meade ETX series of telescopes are amazing. They are designed for begginers, but are powerful enough for even the most advanced users. The ETX 125 is capable of observing just about anything in the sky. The 125 is the largest of the ETX series and will give you some really amazing views. My advice for a begginer is to stick with the GOTO telescopes. These telescopes feature the automatic locating and tracking. For a good starter telescope, the GOTO telescopes by Meade and Celestron are the best.

Q2: Would like to buy a Meade ETX125AT Astro Telescope. The price seems a little high. Is there a chance that this particular telescope will be priced lower during December? Do you or the Meade Company offer any discounts to military personnel, retired teachers, or senior citizens? Thank you, Neville

A: The ETX 125 AT is listed at the lowest possible price we can have. The only way that we are able to discount is on orders for multiple items.

Q3: What is the expiration date for the promo; Free AutoStar Suite/the Lunar Planetary Imager with an EXT purchase?

A: The promotion for the free LPI imager and autostar suite with Meade ETX-90AT 105AT and 125AT ends on February 28th

Q4: Hi, is your ETX125AT the latest version? I read that Meade re-engineered the ETX125 and hence there are new and old versions in the market: "I called Meade customer service and they told me that there are 3 ways to tell the old from the new. The first two are by physical inspection. Removing the vertical lock knob and looking underneath for the bearings and aluminum support arm (as we already know). Second by a small oval indentation in the recess for the horizontal lock." Both of these checks are true. The third way to tell is by the Meade P/N above the UPC bar code on the outside of the box. Original 125ec: Meade P/N 0515-03-01 Newest 125ec: Meade P/N 0515-03-03

A: all of our ETX 's are the new versions however if you want to ensure that it is the newest possible version available just get the ETX Premier Editions as they were just released by meade for the first time at the beginning of the year.

Q5: Hallo, I have a great interrest on the Meade ETX 125 for $889.00 Is ist possible to ship it direkt to Germany? I need it as an gift. Latest to 26.03.2005 (26 of March) Is this possible? (You told me ship in 7-10 business days) Are ther any kind of adittional costs? Tax etc.? Please tell me what I had to do. Best regards Jochen Dning E-mail Adress in the office: Duening@Lenze.de E-mail Adress at home: Duening@piper-Home.de (later 5 p.m.) Adresss: Jochen Dning K￶ningstra￟e 34 31785 Hameln

A: i am sorry but due to the fluctuations in international currency Meade will not allow us to ship their products internationally. All other brands though we are able to ship internationally so you may want to look at some of the Celestrons as they are very comparable and come wiht many of the same features.

Meade ETX-125AT Astro Telescope - UHTC Coatings

Item# MEAD301

Revolutionary telescope!

When the original ETX ᆴ telescope was introduced in 1996, it quickly created a revolution in amateur astronomy. Available for the first time was a stunningly beautiful, ultraportable, and highly versatile telescope system of unprecedented optical resolution and performance. Within one year of its introduction the ETX became the largest-selling modern telescope in the world. The Meade ETX-125 builds on the original ETX concept to create the most advanced electronically-controlled telescopes - including optional automatic GO TO object-location with the Autostar Computer Controller - ever produced in their price range. And without sacrificing any of the user-friendly features that started the ETX revolution.

AutoStar Controller

The Meade AutoStar controller helps you quickly find, and GoTo more than 30,000 objects in the sky. View planets, stars, galaxies, nebulae and comets - all at the push of a button. You don't already know the night sky? Let the pre-programmed Tonight's Best tour in your AutoStar automatically point your telescope to the best objects in the sky. Stargazing has never been so easy and straightforward.

Deluxe Field Tripod

Contructed of strong, lightweight steel, the fulllength Meade #884 Deluxe Field Tripod provides a rigid mounting platform for virtually any ETX observing application.

  • Sturdy field tripod

  • Chrome-plated steel legs

  • Adjustable height

  • Equatorial or Alt-Az position

  • Spreader bar

    Maksutov-Cassegrain Optics

Serious astronomers for years have flocked to the Meade ETX for its observatory-quality Maksutov-Cassegrain optical system. Its diffraction-limited optics are so crisp in contrast, brightness and image resolution that they consistently out-perform telescopes of larger aperture. All ETX telescopes features BK-7 glass and oversized Pyrexᆴ primary mirrors. The entire optical system is manufactured at Meade's state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Irvine, California.

    Ultra-High Transmission Coatings

As if that isn't quality enough, the ETX-125PE's optics are enhanced by Meade UHTC", a series of exotic optical coatings precisely tuned to optimize the visual, photographic and CCD-imaging performance of the ETX telescope. Image brightness is increased by nearly 15% over that offered by standard Meade optical coatings. This means that stars, galaxies and nebulae observed through your ETX-125PE will be dramatically brighter. Even observations of the Moon and planets will benefit from UHTC's increased image brightness across the full light spectrum.

    Power Requirements

The drive base of each telescope accepts eight (user-supplied) AA-batteries that power the telescope for more than 40 hours of normal usage, negating any requirement for an external power source in the field. You can also purchase power cords for powering without batteries. Your first option is the #541 AC Power Cord this power cord doubles as both an AC and DC adapter. You could alternatively purchase just the #607 Power Cord for only DC power.

    Land & Sky Use

The ETX telescopes make very good land based scopes for terrestrial viewing. For correct image orientation you will need the #932 Erect Image Prism. This prism will correct the image for natural views of land based objects.

    Flip-Mirror System

Flip the internal, optical-flat mirror "up" for observing in the standard 90ᄚ position; flip the mirror "down" for terrestrial observing with the optional #932 Erect Image Prism or for photography with the optional #64 T-Adapter.

    Included Eyepiece

The Meade ETX 125 comes with a Super Plossl 26mm Eyepiece. The power of this eyepiece with the ETX 125 is 73x. This is calculated by dividing the focal length of the eyepiece (26mm) into the focal length of the telescope (1900mm). If you want greater magnification other eyepieces are sold separately. For example, a 5mm eyepiece would give you 380X magnification.

Now you can add GPS and control this telescope with the new Meade mySKY hand held personal guide for space exploration.
