A: Yes, the Zhumell 8-inch Dobsonian telescope has a cooling fan, as do the 10- and 12-inch versions of the scope.

The 8-inch Dobsonian includes a 32mm 2-inch-format, wide field and a 1.25-inch, 9mm Plossl eyepiece.

A: The length of the 8-inch Dobsonian's OTA is approximately 48 inches.

Q5: In regards to the Zhumell 8, the Dobsonian mount is OK for now, but if I wanted to put the OTA on a LXD75 to get some tracking ability, could I ?

A: Yes, you probably could mate an 8-inch Zhumell Dobsonian optical tube to a Meade LXD75 mount. The tube should be well within the 47-pound capacity of the mount. You'd need the LXD75 saddle plate as well.

Q6: Is the primary mirror on the Zhumell 8" dob center-marked?

A: The primary on the Zhumell 8-inch Dobsonian Telescope is is center-marked.

Q7: What is the shipping size of the telescope and the mount?

A: The Zhumell 8-inch Dobsonian Telescope ships in two boxes. One is 12x16x50 inches, and the other is 24x24x5 inches.

Q8: The Zhumell 8" dob is made by Guan Sheng, and has a parabolic center-marked primary mirror, correct? Does it also have a Crayford focuser like the 10" version?

A: Yes, the Zhumell 8-inch Dobsonian telescope has all the attributes you asked about, including the Crayford focuser.

Q9: I would like to ask if it would be possible to add a tracking motor assembly to the Dob mount for the Zhumell 8" telescope. If this is not possible, what would you suggest I do in the future to add tracking?

A: Unfortunately, the Zhumell 8-inch Dobsonian does not come with an automated tracking device. There is a solution, however. Jim's Mobile makes an Equatorial Platform for Dobsonians.

Q10: What eyepieces does this come with?

A: Zhumell's 8-inch Dobsonian telescope comes with 9mm and 25mm and Plossl eyepieces in 1.25-inch format.

Q11: With this scope will I really see the rings of Saturn and things beyond the moon? With the included eyepieces?

A: Yes, you'll see the rings of Saturn very well with this nice telescope. You'll also be able to bring in deep-space objects aplenty!

Q12: What is the purpose of a cooling fan? What on this telescope heats up that needs to be cooled?

A: On telescopes like the Zhumell 8-inch Dobsonian, the primary mirror is thicker and more dense than any of the other parts. And, since the mirror is located at the bottom (or back) of the optical tube, it radiates heat up the tube and out the end. This creates heat shimmer, spoiling the view. The fan helps cool the mirror to the temperature of the air to avoid the heat distortion.

Q14: I just ordered this scope a few weeks ago, and W was wondering if i can use filters with it? Solar filters, Nebula filters and the like.

A: Yes, you certainly can use filters with the Zhumell 8-Inch Dobsonian telescope. They will thread right into the eyepieces.

Q15: What is the benefit of getting the 10" Dob over the 8"?

A: The benefit of getting the Zhumell 10-Inch Dobsonian Telescope over the 8-inch version is a 44% increase in light-gathering ability. This increased light grasp enables the 10-incher to bring in the light from Magnitude 14.52 stars, vs Magnitude 14.05 for the 8-incher. It doesn't sound like all that much, but when you consider that you'll be able to see perhaps 20 million more stars with the 10-inch version than the 8-inch, the advantage becomes readily apparent.
