Description

The SV102ED is the top rated 102 mm f-6.95 ED doublet refractor. This telescope offers a tremendous value for the money competing favorably with telescopes costing twice as much. The performance of the SV optic is assured with triple testing including a star test. Amy lenses that do not meet our rigorous standards are rejected. The objective is a hand figured ED doublet made with Ohara extra low dispersion glass. This telescope is often wait listed as it takes longer to make truly state of the art optics. But the wait is worth it.

The Stellarvue SV102ED is a four inch doublet ED refractor telescope. The SV102ED uses a high performance hand figured ED lens. The telescope is designed as a visual telescope but can be used photographically when used with our SFF7-21 field flattener.

Fully multicoated ED objective lens:  The 102ED is powered by a 102 mm  f-6.95 doublet objective lens made with an Ohara FPL-51 ED element. Color correction and contrast is superior to a  typical 102 mm achromat. The lenses are hand figured by a master optician to a high Strehl ratio. This telescope's  optics have several  layers of extreme broadband coatings applied to all four of the lens surfaces.  This further enhances the contrast of the image: the stars appear vivid and bright against a dark black background. These coatings  transmit light above and below the visual spectrum  making them well suited for ccd imaging.

Stardust white aluminum tube and dew shield: The  aluminum tube and dew shield is painted in a lustrous and beautiful  stardust  white finish. This white finish will stand out against the  black anodized aluminum fittings giving  this telescope a high-end, sophisticated look. The dew shield can either be extended or retracted. Extension  reduces dewing at  night can cut out the light from those blaring street lamps. The dew shield also  serves as a lens shade during the day. Retraction will reduce the length of your telescope  tube for convenient storage.

Internal tube treatment:  The inside of the tube  assembly is painted "ultra flat black" to cut down on excess  reflection. The inside of the focuser is  threaded, creating ridges. These ridges are painted, reducing the most commonly found type of  reflected  glare.  This treatment provides better glare reduction than focusers that only  have the ridging to prevent glare. All of these methods  add up to provide  the outstanding contrast of the  ED lens.

Dual speed Crayford focuser with  precision bearings: The 2" Crayford focuser uses a compression ring and has three thumb screws to secure accessories and cameras firmly in place. A  compression ring 1.25" adapter with 2" filter thread is also provided. The  focuser has three focusing knobs, one on the left and two on the right. The single knob on the left and a larger knob on the right provide coarse focusing.  On the right side is a second, slightly smaller, brass colored fine focus knob.  This fine focus knob has an 11-1 rotation reducer, allowing for fine  and  accurate  focusing. The reducer in the Stellarvue focuser uses a hardened  stainless steel  shaft and precision ball bearings,  giving it  greater longevity  than some competitive dual speed focusers. A tension adjustment set screw is  positioned under the focuser and a thumb screw allows for locking the focuser  when engaged in astro-photography. The drawtube is inscribed with a millimeter  scale on top. Two 5 mm threaded holes on top of the focuser allow for the  attachment of two separate finder scopes.   The focuser is fully rotating, only requiring the loosening of a knob.

Two year warranty and Stellarvue Service:  Stellarvue telescopes and accessories are covered by a two year warranty. But it  does not stop there. Since we are a telescope maker, we can repair your  telescope for a nominal fee years after it goes out of warranty, should you  accidentally drop it on concrete or otherwise damage it. Buy a Stellarvue  Telescope  with confidence. Our customer care is legendary.
