Frequently Asked Questions

1 - 4 of 4

Q1: What is the grosisment-maximal- of Celestron NexStar 80 SLT? When I have money may I purchase your product by credit card MasterCard? Best regards, Dan Romania

A: We're not sure what "grosisment" is, but we're surmising it's magnification. The maximum magnification of the Celestron NexStar 80 SLT telescope is 189X. For international orders, we accept payment by PayPal or bank Wire Transfer.

Q2: What is yhe max.range it(Celestron NexStar 80 SLT) can reach. Thank you

A: The NexStar 80 SLT can see a long, long way. However, a telescope is not like a gun that can only shoot so far. Instead, the "range" of a telescope is a function of the amount of light it can gather. The NexStar 80's 80mm objective lens gathers enough light to enable a viewer to see out to Magnitude 11.7. That means you'd be able to view about 5 million stars. A scope with a larger objective would allow you to see dimmer objects. For example, a scope with a 114mm objective would bring in the light from about 15 million stars.

Q3: When I get the CN16GPS accessory for this telescope, will it automatically do all the alignment for me?

A: No, the CN16 GPS accessory will let the telescope know where it is, but you'll still need to go through an alignment procedure and ensure that the alignment stars are centered in the scope's eyepieces.

Q4: I have a few questions: What does the fork-arm mount mean and how do you handle it? Also, does this thing come with motor drive?

A: A fork mount supports a telescope tube via trunions on the side, rather than a dovetail plate below. When the fork mount has only one arm, it supports the scope only from one side, not both. A fork mount allows pointing on two axes, up/down and side/side. You handle pointing via the hand controler. This activates motors in the mount to move the scope in the direction chosen.

Designed to be an affordable entry-level to mid-level, computerized GOTO telescope, the Celestron NexStar 80 SLT Refractor is loaded with valuable design features. With pre-assembled, adjustable stainless steel tripods, and quick-release fork arms and tubes, the NexStar SLT telescope can be set up in a matter of minutes - no tools required!

It'll also give you stunning views! You'll see details of the lunar surface, Venus, Mars as an orange disc, Jupiter and moons, Saturn with rings, and much more! And the NexStar 80 SLT can be used as a land-based spotting scope, as well.

Intelligent Design
Powered by 8 AA user-supplied batteries, an optional AC adapter, optional car-battery adapter, or powertank power source, the NexStar GOTO loves to travel. The internal battery compartment provides power to the high-precision servo motors for rigid low-vibration performance while eliminating cord wrap issues associated with external battery packs.

With the NexStar's ergonomically engineered hand controller, the user is free to remove the hand control from its holder for remote use or leave it cradled for hands-free operation. With a touch of a button, you can select the object catalog, change the slew speed, view fascinating information about an object, or simply find out whether a desired object is visible in the sky.

Celestron's Revolutionary SkyAlign
Using Celestron's patented SkyAlign, simply input the date, time, and location into the hand control then slew the telescope to any three bright celestial objects in the sky. And that's it - alignment so easy it's hard to believe! You'll spend your evening observing, not aligning your telescope!
