Comments about Celestron PowerSeeker 70EQ Telescope:

I saw the product in the throwaway. I think it is a good chose for a beginers astronomer. You can use it for territorial observation, because the closest focus is about 5-6 meter. You can use bird watching too, but the bird easly fly away. It's easly to pice out. The 4, and the 20 mm eyepices is very useful. But the leg's is thin, and the tray is too small, but it's not a big problem. - sorry my english -

Comments about Celestron PowerSeeker 70EQ Telescope:

I originally purchased this scope with one purpose in mind, to use as a piggyback guidescope on top of my main telescope (C10N-GT). It is a perfect match aesthetically, and in function. The scope tube is rigid and the focuser is very smooth. At 70mm aperature, the scope is sensitive enough to pick up enough guide stars to track on with an autoguider camera. It is a lightweight scope so it does not add a significant load to an autoguiding setup/mount.

As a scope by itself, it is perfect for Solar system viewing and entry imaging, and some nebula viewing. Much beyond that and you'll need more aperature. The mount supplied with the scope is adequate for lightweight duty and easy to transport. The fine adjustment controls are a major plus. The only part of the whole setup I found to be low quality is the 3x barlow supplied with the kit. It's a plastic casing and prone to flexure and wobbling from being an imperfect fit into the eyepiece reticule.

Views of the Moon, Saturn, and Jupiter are excellent even at high magnification. Attached is a picture my 4 yr old daughter took of the Moon through this scope at sunrise, and one I took of Saturn the evening before.
