This is a great telescope for both a beginner and professional. The lens are great and it sets up easy. The only flaw I found was the viewfinder. I ordered a new view red dot view finder because I found that the one that it comes with is very sensitive to the touch. The telescope comes with a great set of lens and if you have another telescope as I do then you will find interchanging extremely satisfying.

I recieved this is a gift from my parents for christmas. I was really excited to start using it,but I found that it wasn't as easy as I thought that it would be. When I first started, I couldn't see anything,I really don't know why. Setup was a brease,I set it up probably in about 45 minutes. One thing I really didn't like about it was that the 3-times Barlow Lense that comes with it doesn't work at ALL with the telescope, not even when I used a very low power lense,a 32-mm. Pretty good views of Jupiter, couold see the bands. And pretty decent views of Saturn. I could Even see the Orion Nebula. All in all a good scope.I would recommend it too probably anyone.

Comments about Celestron PowerSeeker 80 EQ Telescope:
I already own an Astromaster 114 reflector and wanted a refractor for it's crisper views of planets and for terrestrial work. Being on a limited budget, this fit the bill. The optics on this scope are very good for what you pay however to really unlock it's potential, you need good eyepieces. I have the Zhumell eyepice kit that came with my Astromaster bundle package and had no problem pushing this scope to 250+ power while maintaining clear views under less than perfect conditions. Saturns rings were clear, crisp with just a hint of the Cassini division. Splitting double stars was also no problem. I suspect it to work well on brighter deep sky objects when I have more time. Mine came with a 3x barlow lens that is really rather useless on this scope. A 2x barlow is perfect.
The finder scope is doable; I recommend adjusting it in the daylight on some distant object. An upgrade to a red dot is in the future.
The mount, like most low dollar scopes, is just enough to get the job done however it works quite well.
The tripod on the other hand is weak. Vibration is a problem whenever you touch the scope. A careful tightening of all nuts, bolts helps in this department.
The focuser and drawtube was a pleasant surprise, firm but smooth with no slop or play.
I would highly recommend the motor drive for this scope. I have one on my Astromaster and it makes life good; the less you touch the better.
While this is considered a starter scope, the optics are right up there with some of the higher end models. This is going to make a great companion to my reflector- it's a keeper. One other note, while not heavy, this is a large scope comming in at about 38 inches. Quite impressive.
As always, customer service was top notch and delivery was a day early. Get some good eyepieces and get ready to have some fun.

Comments about Celestron PowerSeeker 80 EQ Telescope:
I got this telescope to use for the Astronomy unit in the physical science class I am taking. Tonight was the first night since I got it where it was clear enough for me to take it outside. I was amazed at how clearly I could see everything. I pointed it at Jupiter and was able to make out the bands! Then I pointed it at the moon, and I was floored. I could see crisp, beautiful detail on that front. The equatorial mount is taking some getting used to, mostly because I have never used this kind of mount before, but it has been pretty easy to figure out so far. I would definitely recommend this telescope!

Q1: What is the weight in kgs and in pounds?
A: The Celestron PowerSeeker 80 EQ weighs 19 pounds, or 8.6 kg.
Q2: Can I buy and fix a motor drive on this telescope? If yes, can I buy motor drive from you?
A: Yes, there is a motor drive sold as an accessory
Q3: How long is the shipping going to take? How much does it weigh?
A: Free shipping would take 7 to 10 business days to most locations within the contiguous USA. Shipping weight is 35 pounds, and the scope itself weighs approximately 28 pounds.
Q4: How is the finderscope on this scope?
A: The Celestron PowerSeeker 80 EQ has a decent little finderscope. It's a good match for the 80mm aperture of the main scope.
Q5: Can this be use to look at land and sky or planets? I'm looking for under $200 telescopes that can be use in both land and sky.
A: Unfortunately, the Celestron PowerSeeker 80 EQ's equatorial mount is not suited to terrestrial viewing. If you're interested in a "double-duty" scope, your best bet is probably the Celestron AstroMaster 90 AZ Refractor. It has nice, correct-image optics and an altazimuth mount that can be used as easily for viewing land objects as for stars and planets.
