I have owned many refractors including several TVs but never the TV85 until recently. I've always had a soft spot for this size scope and still consider the TV85 as "best in class". APO performance in a doublet, this well built scope is a true joy to use. Sure, there are now many competing scopes from Asia that are capable of comparable optical quality for consderably less but there is something about this scope that sets it apart; high degree of mechanical quality and feel of the RP focuser, well thought out TV accessories that work across the full line of scopes, quick cool down times, robust design and classic looks - the list goes on. I chose the brass tube version from Hayneedle and loves its classic looks and grab and go convenience on the Panorame mount with brass and walnut legs. Fine furniture when indoors and great performance outdoors. I doubt I'll ever sell this scope, this is an heirloom purchase to keep in my family!,

The brass TV85 was out of stock so I had to wait a couple of weeks for the order to be fulfilled but that was fine with me, especially given the great pricing I've come to expect from Hayneedle. Shipping was fast and Hayneedle's customer service is the best.

I had a refactor when I was younger. This one is like a work of art. I have been involved with optics for about 30 years, and this telescope is the one that you shoud use as a reference.

A few weeks ago I finally purchased the TV85. It is really the best refractor in its size, super sharp images and a real rock solid construction, highly recommended to keep it for a life time and to hand over to next generations. Watching M42 with 11mm Nagler feels like being a new born star yourself.
